Clients Are My Heroes
For several years I have been helping people as a trained listener. This isn’t just a job for me. It’s my passion.
I know what it’s like to feel anxious and stressed, doubting yourself, wondering why life isn’t working out the way you thought it would.
Therapy provided me with the support I needed to heal my pain and suffering. When I found the courage to reach out for help, and started to believe in myself, my life changed for the better.
At 45, I walked the Camino de Santiago in the hope of discovering what I was really meant to be doing with my life, wondering if it was too late to train as a psychotherapist. While enjoying working as a pharmacist for over 30 years, I always suspected my true purpose lay elsewhere.
I realised a life-long dream when I qualified as a psychotherapist, completing a 4-year Professional Training in Tracht Psychotherapy Foundation.
Today I’m a fully accredited and experienced counsellor and psychotherapist. Together we will work through your issues, helping you transform your life and relationships, feeling happier and at peace with yourself.
“Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
How I work
My aim here is to explain how I work without falling into the jargon trap.
Very simply, I’m a talk therapist. I’m also trained as a body psychotherapist. And I’m qualified in Internal Family Systems Therapy. My qualifications and training are listed below. Special interests and training include working with anxiety, stress, trauma, addiction, sexuality, and young people over 16.
One of the most important aspects of successful therapy is the connection between you and your therapist. My warm yet challenging style creates a safe and trusting environment to support your growth and wellbeing. My experience as a therapist is that feeling heard and understood facilitates healing.
Each trade has its toolbag. Counselling and psychotherapy is no different. I believe that therapy works when the therapist helps the client find tools and techniques to help themselves. I’m a direct and engaged therapist who will support you to find a way forward. To make changes in your life, if that’s what you want.
As an accredited member of IACP (Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) and IAHIP (Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy) I follow their Professional Code of Ethics and Good Practice. I undertake Continuous Professional Development.
