About Marie

My focus is on trainings, workshops, retreats and IFS consultation for groups. I no longer see individual clients. If you are looking for individual psychotherapy, supervision or consultation from an IFS therapist, please see the Directory Listings at IFS UK and IFS Institute.

Marie Tierney, MSc, MA, IACP, BACP

An authentic, compassionate and engaging trainer whose passion and warmth brings IFS to life.

I am the founder of IFS Ireland and a Lead Trainer for the IFS Institute. I am passionate about bringing IFS to as many people as possible worldwide, while building and nurturing the IFS community in Ireland through the facilitation of trainings, workshops, and retreats. I am known as a warm, engaging, and knowledgeable trainer and facilitator.

In response to the growing demand for trained IFS therapists, my practice has evolved from individual psychotherapy to a focus on IFS training and consultation.

My particular interest and expertise lie in the healing potential of IFS for adults who grew up with addiction in the family — including Adult Children of Alcoholics (ACA) – and other burdened family systems, as well as 12-step and other recovery communities. I also have a deep interest in blending somatic, embodied practice with the IFS approach.

Born and raised in the west of Ireland, I live in Galway and enjoy spending time in nature and hill walking in the wilds of Connemara.

What My Workshop Participants Say

Marie’s enthusiasm, energy, and passion truly brought the workshop to life. Her stories and depth of experience made the learning engaging and memorable.

An exceptional facilitator - deeply knowledgeable, kind, patient, and enthusiastic. Marie created a wonderfully safe and well-held container for learning.

Warm, grounded, authentic, and highly professional. Marie embodies IFS, making the model accessible, enjoyable, and deeply human.

Marie is steeped in IFS and knows the model inside out. Her teaching was clear, well-structured, and explained with great skill and confidence.

The training was very engaging - beautifully paced, well organised, and thoughtfully balanced between theory, experiential exercises, and Q&A.

I felt safe, supported, and deeply moved by the experiential work. One of the best training days I’ve done - a truly powerful introduction to IFS.
